swim lessons

last summer gavin would jump in the pool so much, he would sometimes throw-up…. but he kept on jumping and swimming…  somewhere along the way – he lost that swimmer’s edge, so we started him in swimming lessons for the first time this month.  gavin always hates it at first, but he ends up having so much fun hopefully he forgets by the end how much he cries in the beginning….it helps that his swim teacher is AWESOME:)i laughed when i looked through all these pictures.  since he was a baby, he always smiles huge and keeps his mouth wide open… no wonder he always swallows so much water!!!  shut the mouth gav!

happy november.  this month, i’ll be picking a photo of the day every day.  a challenge to capture a little moment, a little smile, or something random.

gavin gets the #1 spot…

annika trueheart ballerina

if you were to ask my (outrageously adorable) niece her full name, she will tell you this:  ”annika trueheart ballerina” .  here she is in full-form, sparkles in the eyes… at ballet class!

the lighting was horrible in their ballet studio for natural-light photographs, but the gritty look i got– i kinda enjoyed.   the softness and grace of the little ballerinas within the gritty-grainy pictures… an interesting contrast.trying soooo hard to do it all right…annika’s sweetness is something you’ll rarely encounter in the world.  she truly is a gem, an angel, a doll, a perfect beautiful ballerina.  she’s like a little 3 year old fairy – but she’s real.

new to old

there is quote that goes something like this: “yes… old friends are the best, ’til you meet a new one that is worth making an old one out of…”

being pretty shy by nature (and preference), this quote fits me well.  but how lucky to find such special people as these to welcome into our world.  yes, MORE than worth making into old-old-old-old friends.  we love you kerkhoff family.

my sister’s family

after sweet hospitality, warm sunshine, and lots of laughter and love – right before i left my sister’s home after a 10 day visit, i took some family pictures for them….  anyone who knows me, knows i love and ADORE my three nephews, and two nieces.  gavin sure is lucky to have such great cousins on both sides, and incredible aunts and uncles, AND awesome grandparents…  here are a few i picked out from the pictures that i really liked, usually the more casual ones i seem to be drawn to….  the messy-silly ones;)

location: oahu, hawaii
