hold you in my arms, forever…

newborn, asleep in your arms.

how sweet is life.

loved stepping into the world with these two new parents – adoring their sweet girl.

i was listening to ray lamontagne while finishing up this set – and the song “hold you in my arms” just seemed so fitting.

when my sweet kai, coming up on three months soon, is resting in my arms – i feel like i could hold him forever and let everything just fade.

ladro love & seattle rain

we’ve been in the beautiful northwest for almost 4 days, all of which have rained.  but the lattes, the fallen colorful leaves, and warm sweet homes of people we love have made it so perfect.  big post when we get home, but a few shots to keep this space up to date.

a little hint of seattle in san diego.

let’s just say, i love the seattle bloggers. something about the northwest breeds some crafty, creative, talented folks. despite the gray – there is always so much light coming from there.

i always admired from afar, RE-collected…  i’d always felt it’s peacefulness – but never met the girl behind it.  here is what her ‘about me’ says:  ”I’m a lover of the Northwest, a teacher, and a coffee drinker. I love the ideas that people share on blogs, and use mine as a way to keep track of my life. Right now I’m dreaming of: sunny, crisp days and cupcakes…”

well this “lover of the northwest” takes amazing photographs – really soft and beautiful.  and she just had a baby boy, miles — pretty close in age to my little kai.  out of the blue one afternoon, when we were both pregnant, she emailed me saying she would be in san diego and would like me to take her pictures with her new babe.  such a pleasure and such an honor and such a delight.  hints of seattle were there, as we set out at ocean beach on a hot, october sunny morning.

thank you so much rachel for letting me get to meet your sweet miles and see you & your husband be the most adoring parents one could find.

ten on ten :: november

coffee & the two grandmas are keeping things above water here.

fall feels like it has descended, beautifully and with a little chill.  my two little boys keep me so happy to wake up in the morning.

a day late and only eight photographs.  fitting for this month’s ten on ten.

two months

my kai is two months…

still a precious tiny baby, soft & warm.  i feel like i have loved him forever. love his serious gaze, his furrowed brow, and the way his eyes squint when he smiles and coos.  makes me wonder what he is thinking and can’t wait to someday hear.  we love you more than the world sweet kai.

tip for a successful photoshoot…

break a few rules.

like having a family pillow fight, jumping on every bed in the house, a candy/tea party on top of the kitchen counter, & best yet — a dance party on the counter.  bound to be delightfully fun (& memorable)…

and sneak in some sweet pics in between of course.

every other

my camera is getting quite the work-out these days…  not only taking holiday photos, but also a lot of photos of my boys/family with our life-giving activities & relationships.  i feel like i can’t ever get enough pictures of my new baby kai (who is now 2 months old!), and have been taking some of the most rewarding photoshoots ever.  so i decided i would do an “every-other” on the old blog…  a family/personal blog and then a photoshoot blog.  every other for a while.

so i can’t wait to share (hopefully soon) our october adventures and beautiful moments next!  and then i don’t even know how i will pick which photoshoot to blog on since they have all been so blog-worthy with the most amazing peeps & coolest ideas/locations making it allllll the more fun!  stay tuned…

also — in blog news… i will be joining with the talented rebekah gough at “a bit of sunshine” & trying to take & post a photograph daily of a blessing throughout the month of november.  if i feel overwhelmed, i may post them together in a grouping every few days, but i hope to simplify and pick just one and post it daily.  i take so many photographs and love to capture life in a still form so much and feel so grateful to have a place to “dump” them all.  thanks for checking in here and all your feedback & encouragement.

xoxo
