the 52 project

i stumbled upon this blog: che and fiddle through several others (rebekah & tahnee), and felt that the “52 project” was so closely in line with what i cherish and do and thought it would be a wonderful challenge for my photography.  to narrow down each week to a pick of two images, one of each boy.  well, it’s late april and i am finnnnnaly getting on the ball.  my first set for the 52 project.

being beautifully themselves

i always have so many thoughts i could write about each photoshoot, about what i love about their family, their unique story, the unique energy at the shoot…

but i also really like the mystery and quiet of a collection of photos from a shoot.

it’s almost like our little secrets and their sweet, bonding moments that are just for them.  but i when i look through these pictures, i also hear their voices & their quiet & their moments…   and i like that a lot too.

just remember…

spring 2013

remember these simple, rare times. off the road, in the wild for a minute – just mama & her boys.

remember the imagination of age 5, and intrigue of the baby.

remember the warm spots in the sun and the cool ocean breezes sneaking their way over the hill and into the canyon.

remember the yellow wild flowers that so quickly will fade and brown in the dryness of the summer.

remember the heart of age 5, trying to help the wobbly baby sit for just one picture without falling.

remember that we didn’t need to rush here or rush home.

that capturing these ages, these stages in this beauty was enough. it’s not perfect or what you maybe imagine in your visions of beauty…….

but is better that way – when you remember that the adventure was attempted, togetherness was had & memories made.

remember the process, the journey, the adventure is better when not rushing an “outcome” or result.

create & remember a slower, sweeter, more simple spring.

remember.

remember.

remember.

bringing baby home

it’s just a little window, a little tiny sliver of life that is so precious and incredible.

so intimate and beyond words. bringing a sweet baby home to their family, their life, their world.

i feel incredibly honored to step into these moments with families – photographing what they hold so dearly. i love it!!!  it’s becoming quickly my most favorite type of photography.  documenting life at home for a new baby and the family who welcomes him.  i think a little piece of me re-lives it every time.  and then i go home and get big baby kisses from my now seven month old baby and a big choking neck hug from my 5 year old. and i am equally as thrilled to be beyond those early days too.  because it’s all just magical really. and while babies do what babies do, i just love that the big kids (with eyes filled with more energy and excitement than imaginable) show me around the world and family baby is joining…and yes, babies sometimes pass little toots that get quite a reaction.

…yes,  this family is beyond words.

their beauty from the inside glows on the outside. the way they look at each other, smile with one another, and engage is inspiring. much love and best wishes brown family.

little baby walker is a lucky boy to join such a family as yours.  and i can tell that you all are quite smitten with him as well.

wildflower maternity

when in seventh grade math class, i would never have pictured this day. us together in a field full of flowers in san diego – taking her pictures to capture the beauty of motherhood that is upon her.

still a tad bit unreal. love you dearly friend.

you will be an incredible mother. you already are.

we hung my camera on these branches and snagged a picture together.  my heart is full, anticipating sharing motherhood and this awesome journey of the next stage together too.

and may i add, this girl….. is more beautiful on the inside than on the out. yes – it’s possible.
