“…and let them play.”

when we chat before a session about a vision and the mom says  ”…just wearing bathing suits and let them play…”, i know it’s going to be a sweet shoot…

my video for corey

a couple years back, i met corey photographing her magazine-worthy beautiful family (view here & here).  she is a lovely fellow photographer locally here and has photographed for, and been featured by, TEA Clothing, Peek Clothing, Anthropologie, and the Dream Foundation.  when she asked me to do a video of her ~ featuring her photography – i was beyond honored and so excited to dive into that arena of creativity…  so here it is– here she is!

such a struggle

getting this big ol’ camera out and taking pictures has proven to be one of my latest challenges.  this picture was on my phone, and i so badly wish it was a good shot on my camera.

it’s such a struggle.  to get through the grind of a day with little ones, work, chores, tasks, upholding values, etc, etc, etc… and also to capture fleeting moments.

such a struggle, but one i hope to return to…

tomorrow….

or maybe the next day.

but i will.  this space is a haven to re-focus, re-energize, and feel inspired to live more simply, more beautifully, and more with more intention.  so i have no good pictures or blog posts today or tonight — but i am hoping to focus on doing more soon… on simplicity. on nothing fancy. on beauty in mundane.

until then…. until all those lofty aspirations for this blog — i post just a little iPhone picture. but it’s a start.

a fighter

this beautiful, lively, cheerful girl just turned six.

she also is battling leukemia & is having a bone marrow transplant.

the bond between brother and sister is strong and getting stronger… little brother will be the perfect match bone marrow donor.  it’s an incredible story, of a strong & beautiful family.

little rina is a fighter. she is strong. she is gentle. she is funny.

i photograph people, but i feel like i photograph stories.  i can’t help but walk away looking at life differently.

more of her touching story & how to help here.

ten on ten

i missed… yesterday was a day filled with being all over the place in scattered sort of manner. ten on ten slipped my mind. so this morning i woke up and decided to do a peaceful/re-group for ten on ten that is just ten pictures sitting on my computer of my favorite place – our local beaches. ten photos that didn’t fit into another blog – or just are sitting there with no big purpose.  i’ll be back at it with ten on ten next month, it’s one of my favorite things.

on the eve of his birthday

it’s been a year.

it flies by, but feels like he’s been in our lives forever.

he is fun, he is sweet, he is engaging, he is just perfect.

while cakes are baking in the oven, i savored a few moments scrolling through the first blog collection of pictures when we brought him home.so tomorrow, we celebrate he turns one. but we also celebrate the milestone that is finishing that first year.  and we all take a deep breath. and love him somehow more each day it seems.
