fall pumpkins, farmland, flannels… tastes of fall that we find, embrace, and savor. including early halloween costume photo-ops (how can i resist?!) this is us. my boys – their friends, and our local ways to celebrate the season.
wrapping up editing on some shoots… loving each one for it’s uniqueness & how it expresses something about each of the people in them.

i wish i could blog every photoshoot, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day. i couldn’t resist posting these beautiful scenes. this family wanted family photos to enlarge on their walls that included the beauty of our area. of the sun, the torrey pines, the ocean, the birds… as i post these, the rain (much needed) is pouring outside. and my little (big) boy is laying in my office asleep since the rain and thunders are a bit scary. so i post these pictures of blue skies, and a bright sun. and remember how blessed i am to photograph beautiful families in a beautiful place. and we turn up the beautiful music to drown out the storm. and pretend a bit that we are in this beautiful place… like this beautiful family.

ok. you have to head over to my sweet pal rebekah’s blog and see her amazing festive decorations! the girl is so amazing – and in a few weeks, i get to collaborate with her on styling a shoot for one of my clients that wants a vintage candy caned beachy photoshoot… stay tuned for that!

there is surely a reason there are a gazillion quotes & poems & songs about home. and it endures as my number one spot for a photoshoot. simple, relaxed, & just it’s own unique & personal beauty…

tastes of fall, hot weather, friends for coffee (iced of course), and capturing a little bit of kai in low light afternoon play….

i kinda think of the photography i do as stopping little life moments and capturing them… some moments pretty insignificant or small, others that mark the beginning or end of a life stage. this family shoot was to capture a retirement… the family celebrating a career for dad of 17 seasons – and moving to the next stage of life. it is not hard to see that he has the adoration of his adorable family & wife. and as the next stage will bring new chapters & togetherness – we wish him nothing but success & sweetness.
and i couldn’t resist — such a sweet family – i switched my camera to video here & there and put a few little clips to mark’s song…

around here… you know it is fall when the nights grow chilly, and the days are hot.
the air is dry.
the evening sun seems more golden, and the ocean more blue.
the tourist go away, and just the locals hustle and bustle around…
a few – just a few leaves change their hue.
we wear scarves with a tank top, and boots with shorts. because autumn is such a sweet sign of change, of a warm home, and the beginning of a season new.
