we sat in the sun with a muffin & a latte, watching these little birdies and enjoying a quiet morning time together.
these pictures all kinda got lost in the shuffle after our last trip… they are a random mix that actually show perfectly what we love and miss.
the avocado stand
the farmers market
ahhhh… the pictures just take me there.

my cousin chad and i were the closest in age, the closest in a lot of ways through the years. i remember when they would drive up from LA– we would see who was taller between chad and me. it was always close. he is now tipping 6’5”, i think he won on the height contest.
i love taking pictures of people i love. chad has married a beautiful girl, inside and out, and has an adorable little boy. we met up in LA on this christmas weekend and i took some family pictures for them.
cousins sure are special. like a brother without the fighting. i couldn’t be more thrilled for him with his beautiful family. i took a few pictures…. i couldn’t narrow them down very well – so the “teasers” ended up being around 60-70 pictures…. here they are. love to you chad, tara, and caiden!!
our boys…
today gavin asked, “when i get big, can i play baseball like baseball-chad?”
yes gavin, that you can do.

listening to old records of christmas carols, eating cookies, my dad playing carols on the accordion, ice-skating, baking cookies for santa with my mom, christmas eve service, presents, cookies, stockings, good food, cookies, telling the story of jesus’ birth, being with family, delivering cookies to the neighbors, santa, eating cookies, taking photographs… now blogging those photographs while eating MORE cookies. christmas is good.
we cleaned up and attended a lovely christmas eve service, where my mom sang in the choir, and gavin asked all kinds of questions… like, “is that God?!” about the Lutheran minister in his white robe. we celebrated Jesus’ birth, and also made cookies for santa with gramma….
christmas night came, and santa came. i layed next to gavin on christmas morning as he woke up and looked at me. he whispered right away, “did santa come?” i responded “i think so!” gavin quickly said, “do you think he brought me a baseball helmet?!!?” ”let’s go see…” i said. and the morning unfolded into pure christmas magic for our little 3 year old…….
…with morning candy & oranges in the stockings, giving and receiving of gifts, and yes…. the baseball helmet too.
telling us allllll about all the presents santa brought (gav code – “put down the camera, let’s get started!!!”)
and to end a beautiful christmas day- we took cookies to the neighbors…
a tired gavin, but still up for a litttttttle more fun on our drive home…. meeting up with my cousin chad, his adorable wife tara, and their little guy caiden in pales verdez – those pictures will be the next blog post…….
merry christmas to all.

we love everett – his spunk, his silliness, and how he makes gavin laugh and laugh and laugh. he turned three and had an adorable crafty party which started out here and finished with a gummybear cake at the kerkhoff’s. amazing that i met amy with this little guy was kickin’ in her belly.
happy birthday!
i found this picture on the computer from a year ago almost – what a special friendship.

simple christmas decorations were set into place…
a hearty menu of warm foods was prepared & enjoyed
sweets and drinks were perfect
small gifts exchanged…
many laughs together.
for this christmas diner with dear friends, i lit the candles, the friends arrived, and the camera went into the bag. i had a lovely time. no pictures this time – but i think i’ll remember it well.
