the wind that wouldn’t stop

when i was up in ventura county — there was a day that the wind just would not stop.  it howled.  we almost called the shoot due to wind…..  but with the sun so fierce and vibrant, i couldn’t resist trying.  so with juliet’s sweet family – we took a go at it.  and i am so glad we did. i wish i could do a little blog post on every photo shoot…  each one is so unique and special.  i just don’t have enough hours in my days…  the day after the crazy wind, i went up to simi valley and took pictures of this beautiful family in low autumn light. when i was downloading these pictures of mother and son – and turned my laptop to johan and showed him that when gavin is this age, a fifth grader – i want these pictures too.  he nodded in agreement…..

a little biased

i was up in ventura county this week doing some photo shoots.  i know we are often biased towards where we grew up…  but i think ventura county is just the best.  the fruit trees, slowed down pace, the hills all around, how so much stays the same over time.  i could go on and on.  this picture was from one of the shoots – little phoebe.  thanks phoebe for being so natural and sweet.

coming to a close.

somehow, it seems like personal blog posts have been limited this month to part A and part B.  the month has been flying by and pictures piling up.  a few snipits and adventures and events filling our lives lately (and a song for johan in honor of his birthday)happy birthday to johan. (pic with iphone too)chilly mornings out…

costume #1 came out for a little tour with other moms as we visited an elderly care facility in the neighborhood….feeling super & mighty.

from the front yard to the beach

when i show up to a messy face, i just love it.  a few shots of the remains from an afternoon playing with cousins and family, and then on to capturing the diversity, love, and stories of one family.  one family that came together in the front yard from as close as up the street, to as far away as across borders…   we took pictures simply from the front yard to the beach below.  in a nut shell – this family was an honor to photograph.

lauren (the mom) introduced me to Zara for kids’ clothing.  you have to check it out – in love!  gavin already picked out this christmas sweater…  we’ll see…

if you haven’t heard of it – their kids clothes are so great!

october. so far.

october, moving so quickly along.  i am finally getting some pictures up of our happenings around here lately.  october is a big month for us.  the leaves are changing hue – the sun is hot.  there are so many stories with each of these pictures.  some of great depth, some of simplicity.  but i’ll leave alone the lengthy descriptions.

i primarily just like looking at pictures anyways myself…

…and listening to great tunes.  i am hooked, i mean hooked on this little song by laura veirs.  have you heard of her?  if you are a hip seattlite, maybe… (she is a seattle singer/song-writer).  i listen to it over and over and over.  i added it up top, for your listening pleasure.  to maybe listen to over, and over, and over, as well.above and below photographs – all either taken by gavin or set up by him.  he at least tried…
