“the girls” are moving.

sadness.

but instead of moping around, gavin and i planned one last little adventure for just gav & his girls.  these girls are like his sisters in many ways.  we all love them: their spunk, their sense of adventure, their unique & amazing personalities.

colorado is going to be lucky to have them.

message to just emmie & ainsley:  the little song we added up top says “hey – this song is from gavin”  we love you!!

a family of 3 (for just a little longer)

photographing another pregnant mama, moving from a family of 3 to a family of 4.  kinda fun in a new way…

i met (& fell in love with) this family back in the fall (blogged it here), it is always a honor to watch families grow.
so excited to meet and photograph the sweet little bundle in almost no time!

beach sunsets

no matter where one lives, it is easy for life to become so busy that we miss the beauties of our surroundings…  realizing it has been way too long since we’ve taken the day in at the beach, watching the sun sink into the pacific.  before this baby comes, hoping to cherish many nights and days being sandy and free.  i looked slowly through this post from last summer, smiling inside that this is part of our life.  now to make it a priority to get there instead of missing the days floating by.

go out and enjoy your beauty, whatever it may be.

i need to as well…

and maybe a little bob marley will help

i never exactly know…

when i show up for a photo shoot, especially at a home i have never been before, i never totally know what to expect.  i like that.  i like the challenge and wonder.

but sometimes when i leave, i hope and hope that something worked out…  that i got something…  in this case, the energy was so high i don’t think the two sweet children stopped moving much.  but when i got home — i was amazed at how much i enjoyed sorting through their energetic pictures.  somehow, at times the more energy — the better.  it makes me look for different things, engage fully, and be creative.   it is a fun challenge.

what i love about this family, is that they fully embrace a big quote that is hanging on their wall.  and they embrace and love their children fully for who they are.  their energetic, busy, playful selves.  a sweet reminder that energy and fun are what children should be…

and capturing little pieces of that with my camera is a true honor.

summer lovin’

this june has been anything but gloomy.  sunshine, warmth, a train ride to the grandparents, baseball…  feels like summer.

just wanted to do a little shout out to two sweet blogs that featured me this month, both moms that i’ve only seen through their beautiful pictures on their blogs.   one blog here with a little about me, and the other (here) was a total surprise and honor just being grouped together with some amazing & inspirational blogs.   check them both out!

i’ll be back after our little train ride adventure up north, and after a weekend photo shoot marathon of 7 shoots today through sunday (wish me luck!)

june

how is it june?!

i hope to get some foggy beach photos up of this classic june gloom we are having on the beaches in san diego…  but that means we need to take a quiet peaceful walk along the beach with my camera.  hope to make that happen soon.

until then, i have to share my favorite recent picture from a photo session last week.  super minimalist and simple, how i sometimes wish all pictures were…

getting closer

crazy to start realizing the third trimester is here.  soon, baby you will be joining our little family.  know that gavin loves to pray for you, show you toys, give you kisses already, and is already planning games for when you are “big enough”.  we eagerly await your arrival little baby.

memorial day memories…

one thing i love about blogs, is the quick reference back to look at memories.  sitting and relaxing with family — i glanced back through and through at our memorial day weekend 2011, enjoyed the similarities and how different things are this weekend.
