hot air balloons

for years – we’ve seen these beautiful, colorful hot air balloons floating through the sky.  we see them out our windows, as we drive on the streets, and from the beach.  we love them – they just look so peaceful and magical up in the sky.  we finally “caught” them launching which is something i’ve been wanting to do for a while.  it was SO neat!  we’re going to do it again.  and again.  and again.  next time – we’ll bring a big blanket and maybe dinner.  i’d love it to be a memory for gavin – remembering sitting in the warm sun having a picnic watching the hot air balloons fill up and float off into the sky. we called our friend sam to come when we realized we had “caught” them – they made it just in time to see the 2nd and 3rd balloons.  local friends – let me know if you ever want to do this with us!!

hot air balloons are so magical to me, too. when we were first dating kyle wrote me a simple little song, and the first line was: “i wanna take you away in a hot air balloon…” later we performed this song together (with Kyle on harmonica and me singing and playing guitar) at a few small shows I played when we were first married. needless to say hot air balloons have become a symbol of our sweet beginnings as a couple… the blissful joy and wonder of falling in love and always wanting to be with that other person. thank you for sharing these beautiful photos, stacy!
